How successful is extracorporeal fertililization?
Statistic data show that IVF pregnancy rate is 22-38%. In case of using ICSI method after transfer of the embryo pregnancy occurs in 30-38% women. However the quarter of pregnancies end up with miscarriage.
These are several factors that can increase chances for successful pregnancy:
- the patient’s age. The younger mother is the higher chances for pregnancy are;
- number of transferred embryos: 3—4 transferred embryos increase chances for pregnancy compared with transfer of 1-2 embryos. One shouldn’t however forget about the risk of multiple pregnancy in the case of transfer of multiple embryos;
- quality of embryos;
- number of cells, their size, symmetry;
- causes of necessary of extracorporeal fertilization.
